Cool Britannia at Comme des Garcons
by Danielle Cooper, 26 October 2007

Film producer and fashionista Daphne Guinness and Milliner Stephen Jones will both be launching fragrances next year under the guidence of Adrian Joffe, husband and business partner of Rei Kawakubo, Comme des Garcons' founding designer.
Comme des Garcons began releasing fragrances in 1994 and since then have created and released a further 48.
Stephen Jones told The International Herald Tribune that his fragrance is "about hats - about ephemera, an illusion of beauty and transience". He has created the fragrance in collaboration with Comme des Garcons perfumer Christian Astuguevieille.
Guinness brewery heiress, Daphne, is known for her eclectic but elegant style, and has previously designed five shirts which are on sale in the Comme des Garcons boutique, Dover Street Market. She has been quoted as saying that her designs and her personal style are influenced by her early years growing up on a surrealist colony with Salvador Dali. We will have to wait until next summer to discover whether these influences will be present in her fragrance.![]()
