Tom Ford announces his Private Blend collection
by Grant Osborne, 02 February 2007
Tom Ford has announced his Private Blend collection which is available from March. The range of twelve unisex fragrances can be worn alone or blended together.
The fragrances have been designed with perfume connosieurs in mind, rather than to have mass-appeal. Though the dozen scents are unisex, half are more feminine and the other more masculine: "...these are fragrances for fragrance connoisseurs. I don’t think we’re going to see
too many guys worrying about wearing a women’s scent." Tom Ford told WWD.
Tom Ford isn't the only house targetting connoisseurs - Armani, Hermès, Chanel, Dior and Donna Karan have all launched more exclusive fragrance ranges in the last few years.
The initial range will consist of the following fragrances:
- Amber Absolute
- Black Violet
- Bois Rouge
- Japan Noir
- Moss Breches
- Neroli Portofino
- Noir de Noir
- Oud Wood
- Purple Patchouli
- Tobacco Vanille
- Tuscan Leather
- Velvet Gardenia
Tom Ford is also expected to launch a men's fragrance later in the year, and a new women's fragrance in 2008.
The Private Blend collection will be available from Tom Ford's store and a very small selection of outlets in the US, UK, Italy, France and Germany. 1.7oz Eau de Parfum will cost $165 and an 8.3oz decanter will be $450. ![]()
