Chrome by Azzaro
I try to pick out individual notes but all that I really get is a well-blended frag. that ends up smelling just like the name implies, "Chrome." Upon application, I get the sensation of lightly powdered metal shavings in slightly stagnant water. Someone else described what I am trying to get at as "damp and musty", and I completely agree. I know that sounds like a pretty unpleasant description, but it's not really unpleasant, per se. Just different. Very good sillage, and also lasts longer than I care to keep smelling it. I've sampled Chrome quite a few times over the past couple of years before finally purchasing a bottle. I guess that my nose evolved away from this scent since the last time I tried it, because now it just isn't as impressive on me. Certainly not offending, but a little odd smelling at times. For you Star Wars fans, I bet C3PO smells like this. I'm going to have to sit on the fence with this one for now.

Unforgivable by Sean John
The biggest thing that turns me onto this fragrance is the "fizzy" citrusey smell that I get upon application, for lack of a better term, the "spices" seem to pop out of the citrus base and really catch attention. On me it soon mellows down to a soft, fruity/citrusey watery scent, and the real fun is that the distinct spicy "fizzy" characteristic seemingly pops up and then fades back down randomly during the course of a wearing. It took a couple of wearings for me to really appreciate this one, and I find myself using it more and more often. Although I think it would be suitable for either day or nighttime use, this one just seems to work better for me in the evening. I won't address the "knockoff" reputation this has gotten, because even if it is a knockoff, it is still quality. And I find the bottle to be unique and classy in it's own way. The only real chief complaint that I have is that in a couple of hours, it's just gone. I can still smell it embedded in my clothing with a close sniff, but it simply stops projecting way too soon. I have no objections to having to re-apply a fragrance if I enjoy it, though!

M7 by Yves Saint Laurent
Really? I was expecting such good things from this fragrance based upon reviews from this site. Just goes to show me that everyone's tastes are different. SAMPLE THIS ONE BEFORE YOU BUY IT...
M7 smells exactly like my Great Grandma used to smell. This might sound cliche but it's true, whatever fragrance she wore bore a striking resemblance to this one. The easiest way that I can describe the smell is that of flat root beer with some powdered sugar thrown on top, along with some sweet-smelling sawdust. Goes on strong, amazing sillage and longevity. I don't get the "super masculine" description that some have given it, to me it smells like it could easily be worn on a woman (see my earlier "grandma" comment), just too sweet (almost sickly sweet) for a "I am man, hear me roar" type fragrance. Might smell better on older men than me, but it doesn't work for this 27-year old. Kudos to those of you who wear this and like this, but it just isn't my thing. Again, try before you buy!!!

Cool Water by Davidoff
This has been my signature fragrance for years. So long in fact, that I've grown almost bored with it. It is an amazing scent on my skin though, and apparently on many others as well seeing its popularity. I don't wear this one as frequently as I used to any more, it's pretty much my "I can't decide what to wear today" scent. I'll also wear it on days that I'm looking from a surefire compliment from the ladies, because this one never fails to receive attention on me. A safe bet for anyone looking for an Aquatic, it's so popular that I can't see it offending anyone when applied in moderation. It has great longevity and decent sillage, and will leave you smelling fresh and clean.

Nautica Competition (new) by Nautica
I received this cologne years ago to replace my original (blue) bottle, of which I throughly enjoyed. Not this one. Smells cheap and generic, definately "sporty" but I'd use this one to freshen my gym socks before anything else. I tried putting up with it for a matter of months before realizing that life is just too short to spend on colognes that don't smell good. Do yourself a favor and spend a little bit of money on something that isn't quite as obnoxious as this. If you don't believe me, contact me and I'll give you my bottle, since I can't even give it away to my friends here.

Joop! Homme by Joop!
Joop!, my first "real" cologne. First smelled this one one a good buddy of mine about a decade ago, and was wondering what the sweet smell was. Needed to get a bottle immediately and I wore this thing out. Women love this one (at least, I've gotten plenty of attention while wearing this one), but at the same time I know that I don't like smelling it on other guys, so they probably feel the same way about me wearing it. I don't worry all that much about that, as I like it on myself. Joop! can flip on you though, and I think this is why it's such a controversial fragrance, and has gotten so many negative reviews here. I believe that most people find this scent to be pleasant enough WHEN it is applied in moderation, and by that I mean a light misting at most. Apply too much Joop! and this thing turns into a monster with sillage that'd take down a horse.
As I've gotten older my tastes have changed a bit, and I find myself wearing Joop! less and less often now. The truth is, it just seems that it's become a "special occasion" cologne for me now, those special occasions being when I feel like taking a trip down memory lane. Someone has said in a previous review that there are simply better scents out there, and although that is completely true, this one is getting my "thumbs up."
