Aromatics Elixir by Clinique

My late mother's favorite. On her it was alluring, on me it smells exactly like Black Flag.

Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent

Happiness is finding Rive Gauche after over 1o years! First bought in 1980s when a guy I had a thing for mentioned it was his favorite. That didn't work out, and I had to wait a few years for the fragrance to not be associated with "him."

The Perfume Dictionary calls RG a perfect rose, and it seems some people smell the rose and others don't. I don't catch the rose, in fact I find it hard to isolate the notes in this magnificent fragrance; I'm just swept away by its sparkling brightness and powdery drydown. It's good for at least 6 hours, and lasts forever on a scarf or sweater. Despite the boyfriend history I opened with, now I wear it just for me!

Ralph Hot by Ralph Lauren

I got this because it reminds me of Carlos Santana for Women - sort of a toasty sweet fragrance - with more staying power. Fun.

Shalimar by Guerlain

Like luckylouie, I wear Shalimar to bed. I like the Milky Body Veil (lotion) best, although i have never had the pure extrait de parfum, which I am now putting my spare change into a coffee can for ;)

I jave read more than once tha Shalimar is best appreciated at a distance, which I believe. When I put my wrist to my nose, it smells of masking tape!

One of the greats.

Carlos Santana for Women by Carlos Santana

I just wish it lasted longer - that's what keeps me form a thumbs up. EDP, perhaps? One day?

It is a "warm" fragrance, with all the notes CASunshine describes. In fact, I would call it toasty. The body lotion emphasizes the fruity notes over the floral. Shalimar for stoners.

Panthère de Cartier by Cartier

Godeke_Michels describes Panthere perfectly. Just want to add that my 16 year old daughter bought this for me because it reminded her of how I smelled when I came home from my orchestra gig - she called the smell "cold perfume." it is a "perfumy" fragrance; for me it evokes childhood memories of what I considered to be "grown-up" smelling perfumes. Just love it.

Maja by Myrurgia

Reformulated! And not in a good way! I loved the old carnation-y spicy/floral Maja. The new Maja (tall thin bottle, I bought in 2006) smells like cheap aftershave.

Weil de Weil by Weil

Weil de Weil is fresh, grassy, and green, and not at all citrusy. I used it as a girly alternative to 4711 and miss it so much. I have a mini bottle that I just purchased on ebay - I open it and sniff from tome to time. . .
