Obsession Night for Men by Calvin Klein

I've never been able to make up my mind about this one. I originally bought it because it made me think of how my dad's clothes always smelled if they had been in my parents' antique dresser for a week. That said, I rarely wear it because I forget about it and it really doesnt last too long. The only thing I really like about this one is the black suede and the scent memories it triggers. Aside from that, nothing new, nothing impressive (if there ever was from this line?), so back to the drawing board, Calvin.

L'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent

Aw heck. I've got to have you. You only get better with time going from a fruity opening to a smug oriental finish that drives my female co-workers to the point of distraction; I'd be a fool not to buy you. That said, my girlfriend will probably hate you. Oh well.

Opium pour Homme by Yves Saint Laurent

I'm not crazy about Opium, yet I keep going back to it. My "mini" is a lifetime supply--if applied sparingly I get compliments. If I over do it, my girlfriend wrinkles her nose and insists I smell like her grandfather, not her boyfriend.

Gucci Pour Homme II by Gucci

I wanted so much to love you because of that black-tea and cinnamon sensation that sold me at first sniff...but the musk made it impossible and you went back the very next day.

Burberry London for Men by Burberry

Every girlfriend I've ever had has either kept her nose close to my collar or bought a bottle for me when it comes to Burberry London for Men. While obnoxious when first applied, and victim of an ugly dry-down w/ my chemistry, the end result is a head turner: understated, sweet, with some leather/tobacco. The first time I wore this downtown a girl (who was sober) came up and bit me on the neck because she liked it so much. The next day she brough her fiance to my counter and bought him a bottle. Can't wait for the cooler months so I can start wearing this stuff again! The rest of Burberry's line doesn't hold a candle to this stuff!

Lauder for Men by Estée Lauder

Lauder for Men is one of two Lauder fragrances I can wear without wanting to barf. Though I have a love-hate relationship with this scent, I do keep it around for those days I want to be above the "boys": it echos class from a bygone era when three-martini lunches were the norm and travel was by train or ocean-liner. I'm not crazy about the murky dry down Lauder has with my chemistry--watered-down mossy/lemon smell--but my female co-workers literally squeal with delight when I wear this.

Pleasures for Men by Estée Lauder

Wouldn't wear this filth if paid. Smells like citrus in the last stages of decomposistion; for the life of me I cannot figure out why women love this garbage. I'll stick w/ Intuition or Lauder for men when it comes to Estee Lauder scents.

Pi by Givenchy

Pi...or pie? So sweet, so vanillaish, so almondish. Wasn't sure I liked it at first but kept going back to it so I finally got a small bottle (after saying I wouldn't). Oddly enough I can smell a touch of lemon when I first apply this one but it clears out quickly.

Antidote by Viktor & Rolf

Oh Antidote...how I want to love you, but your muskiness makes it impossible. The top notes and middle notes were a piece of heaven, but a mere 6 hours later all I can smell is that horrible white musk that (imo) has ruined so many fragrances for me. Thankfully, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a mini of you and will keep you around for bragging rights.

Royal Secret for Men by Royal Secret

I have a love-hate relationship with Royal Secret. My aunt has worn the women's version for decades and it has always suited her classy, reserved, Southern-dame persona. However, back to the men's version--it's nice, but it just smells too blasted girly because of the sandalwood and rose. In its defense, however, I bought it during the warmer months, and I'm curious to see how I feel about it during the cooler seasons.

Perry Ellis for Men (new) by Perry Ellis

Tried Perry Ellis for Men today while in Macy's. My girlfriend neither approved or disapproved. Somewhat fruity opening with a little bit of spice. The spice is what hooked me from the start. However, 8 hours later I'm wondering if this is musk I smell as the stuff fades. Nice bottle, annoying little mesh bauble; neither impressed or disappointed by this scent from Perry Ellis.

Lacoste pour Homme by Lacoste

Out of all the Lacoste fragrances, Homme is the one I've tried to like the most: rum, cinnamon, vanilla--all are my favorite notes to wear in a scent but this one just smells too blasted artificial. Lacoste should have opted to continue sewing alligators onto shirts instead of dabbling in the fragrance arena. I want to like this one, really, but I can't.

Essential by Lacoste

This was my first fragrance purchase at the department store where I work. We had a brief love affair...which resulted in my demoting it to bathroom air-freshener, and it met with an untimely demise in said bathroom's trashcan after I'd used less than a quarter of the bottle. Didn't last...and once I was educated about "body chemistry" and "notes"...I felt no remorse about chunking this one.

V by Valentino

Cannot get enough of my girlfriend when she wears this stuff! When I catch a whiff of this on her, the rest of the gals in the room fail to exist!

Envy for Men by Gucci

Envy is one of the first scents to impress me in quite a while. I was all set to buy another fragrance but asked the saleswoman to switch the other one out for this; glad I did because at last I've found an oriental fragrance I can wear during these warm Southern nights without overwhelming my senses and those of people around me. Wasn't sure about Envy at first but it's proven to be rather mysterious, earthy-oriental scent, and thankfully it's LIGHT on the musk which might have been a deal breaker other wise. If your body chemistry reacts well to the oriental family, give this one a shot!

Cuba Orange by Cuba Paris

Once it gets past the "grapsicle" aroma it's not bad, but I think too much of this would have the entire establishment barfing. Certainly not like anything I've smelled before but I think that's probably a good thing...might have worked well with Cuba Red.

Cuba Red by Cuba Paris

Nothing but woods and tobacco from liquid to drydown. Might have worked well with Cuba Orange.

Cuba Gold by Cuba Paris

All I can think of when I sniff this stinkin' juice is Burberry Touch with a hint of BO. If there had been more vanilla Cuba just might have had a winner.

Cuba Blue by Cuba Paris

Agreed, very CKish. Part of a coffret set I picked up--glad it was on the cheap. Not the worst thing I've ever smelled but definitely leaves me thinking of bugspray.

Allure Homme Sport by Chanel

As with most Chanel scents for the men, Allure Homme Sport is perfect in every way! My girlfriend does not ask, but demands that I spray this stuff all over some article of clothing of mine for her sniffing pleasure anytime we're going to be apart. It's clean, yet seductive: in short, it's everything a cologne should be and I never even blink when buying a large bottle of this stuff because it will never, ever, go out of style.

Mambo for Men by Liz Claiborne

Disgusting. So glad I only bought the 1oz thing from -walmart-. It's trying so hard to be Black from Kenneth Cole but it fails miserably. As with most Liz Claiborne fragrances, I couldn't get into this one try as I may.

Spark for Men by Liz Claiborne

Spark has been my scent since I discovered it shortly before Liz discontinued it. Every girlfriend (save for the current one) has loved it on me, strangers love it, I love it, and I'll continue to wear it even if my girlfriend claims it smells like that awful Curve. Wish Liz would bring this stuff back, as do my customers.

Dirty English by Juicy Couture

This is the first "Liz" fragrance I've actually liked since Spark. It's a bit dirty, a bit mysterious, and I love it. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the amber-musk note that I detect if I dont wash it off before going to bed. Great stuff, love wearing it while at work, but I'm not sure I'd buy it for myself. This is not one for the boys.

Oscar for Men by Oscar de la Renta

Disgusting. When I first sprayed it on I thought I'd gotten a bad bottle but then I talked to a friend who worked the counters when this stuff was released and she informed me they sold one bottle in NINE MONTHS. It's not bad if you're just catching a whiff of the stuff...somewhat leather/carnation (not bad). But if you go in for a close whiff...have a trashcan nearby into which you can vomit! Sour, sweaty, reminiscent of pencil shavings from my school days. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing this stuff!
