Sensuous by Estée Lauder
Let me start off by saying that I have been looking forward to this fragrance launch for months. I really love Estee Lauder, but for me, they haven't done anything that I find unique since Spellbound, and from reading various descriptions, I just knew that this one would be 'it', the one to finally break them out of their floral mold. Unfortunately it doesn't even come close to being 'it'. While it isn't a floral, it's also not an oriental, or a green, or... anything really. It's just a big messy bundle of 'blah'. The molten woods and amber are so far down into the mix, they may as well not even be there. And the one note that is VERY striking, and not in a good way, is the black pepper. The only thing that kept it from being nauseating was the incredibly soapy smell of the honey. So between the black pepper and soapy-honey, I guess this reminds me of a kitchen, mid clean-up. There's nothing at all enticing or alluring about it in any way. I can smell that every evening right after dinner. Yuck. This is just another major disappointment from the Lauder house as far as I'm concerned. At least we have Bali Dream to look forward to...... I think.

Covet Sarah Jessica Parker by Sarah Jessica Parker
I absolutely HATE this fragrane. I'd had such a wonderful experience with SJP's Lovely, and of course I was excited for Covet. I was SO let down when I tried this perfume. It's very heavy and cloying, and to my nose it smells very strongly of wet cloves. Somehow it manages to come off as unbearably sweet. The whole experience was nauseating and it gave me a terrible headache.

Curious by Britney Spears
Like so many people here, I was reluctant to try this fragrance because of its' association with Britney Spears. I hate everything she stands for and I've avoided her line of perfumes. But finally I found this at an incredible bargain that made it hard to ignore. I decided if I didn't like it, maybe my daughter would get some use of it. Let me just say I wish I'd tried it sooner. It's a perfectly lovely fragrance, and this is coming from a woman in her mid 30's. It's very summery and light, and to my nose, it's very similar to Tommy Girl, for at least half the price. I definitely give this a thumbs up.

Gold by Donna Karan
My God, I LOVE this perfume! I tried it out in a department store last Christmas and loved it then, and I finally remembered to pick up a few samples just to see if I still loved it as much as I thought I did. After the first spray, I was not disappointed. The lilies help keep the fragrance light, but as it dries, it mellows just a bit into something warmer; perhaps it's the amber/patchouli combination.
I've heard from several different sources that this fragrance has been discontiued. What a shame. If that is the case, this is one fragrance I wouldn't mind seriously stocking up on.
