Since no one has listed the notes for Boss Pure, I will start by giving them (derived from the Boss fragrances website): Top notes: fig water, Mediterranean citrus Heart notes: lily, hyacinth Base notes: massola wood, tree moss I dislike the opening. It has citric tartness, but nothing that helps one discern what type of fruit it is. While I love citrus fruits, I find mere tartness in fragrance to be boring. This is coupled with a watery note, which I find equally unappealing. In the drydown, the tartness disappears and Pure becomes smooth and woody. Throughout it remains unremarkable. I give it a neutral rating, as I would classify Pure as an inoffensive, fresh, clean scent. As of this writing, there are 59 fragrances in the basenotes directory with “pure” as part of their name! 05 October 2008

yet another very similar smelling scent of the past 4-5 years. its difficult to put your nose or finger as to what makes up the scent, there is hardly any sophistication and is simply freah. has oe of the poorest longevity hugo boss has done. this is sureloy one to forget really easily. got myselfa 75ml bottle coz i got it 20+ ioff the retail. im stil considering idf i shoyuld use it or use is at a gift to surprise a firend whos benen talking about how he likes it. beats me. it just smells really generic. i love fresh scents and i make sure 50 % odf my frags are fresh with the rest being more intense. howerve i have to admmit this is one of the weakest 08 scents. hardly distihnnguishable. no one's gona be able to tell and say " hey is that boss pure ure wearing" you get the drift. at least freshies like clinie LdIssey, slate, XY,, solo are pretty easy to distinguish. Pure smell like alot of other scents. almost a bad follow up to element aqua(whichi stil use and prefer it to pure)nonetheles paying 30+ for it was prety worth it. i could use it as a freshern for my room (no pun intended). ive always used frags that ive grown bored with on my sheets and covers etc.... there isnt really much to describe about it. i wouldnt even bother to ask anyone to sample it. the least they could do was flrmulate a more lasitng scent out of pure. weak all round., 14 September 2008

bright fresh sweet melony aquatic ozonic Instantly reminded me of one of the Calvin Klein Eternity Summer versions, as in this Pure could have passed for CK Eternity Summer 2009. It is nice...but no imagination whatsoever. Pure is pure mass market 'me too'. I am very dissapointed in Hugo Boss lately. Where is the imagination and audacity for crying out loud?!?!?! Bring Baldessarini back...he came up with some of the best offerings at Hugo Boss. 06 September 2008

Smells like fresh grapefruit (sour, not sweet) and freshly cut grass. It's much more sour than sweet, and the opening is overly fresh. The dry-down sweetens up just a tad, and the sourness becomes a little subdued. But overall, it still smells like sour grapefruit and freshly cut grass. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. I think I'll have to pass on this one. 30 August 2008

Having never been a fan of Boss frags, "Pure" pleasantly surprised me! After first experiencing it on a card, I was intrigued by the light, dare I say "fresh" properties of this fragrance. The following weekend, I happened to be in Nordstrom's, and the SA at the men's frag counter was pushing Pure. Two sprays on my neck, and I was hooked. Within 15 minutes of walking around the mall, I'd had two inquiries as to what I was wearing; went back and bought a bottle. Pure has good sillage and for me, excellent longevity. It's light and crisp, and has proven to be a good choice for the office. When first applied, the top notes are quite bold, but it quickly settles down and mellows into mildly spicy, citrusy, full-bodied accords. 15 July 2008

When you first spray this cologne on your skin it smells very citrusy. Then after about 5 minutes it just smells like soap. None the less, I still really enjoy it. It smells very clean like you just stepped out of the shower. Smells like pure soap. If you like that kind of scent then definitely buy Boss Pure. 13 July 2008

A clean and fresh aquatic fragrance, without sharp open notes. Nice for summer. 11 July 2008

Boss Pure is a fresh, clean, lightly citrus-y, aquatic scent balanced by a floral heart. Drys down to a woody, slightly vanillic note. Decent longevity for an EdT (3-4 hrs). Nice enough but nothing special here. Definitely aimed at the younger crowd who want something different... but not too different. 10 July 2008

If BN Directory’s rules allow that, my review for Pure would be purely simple, it would have just one word – distasteful. I know, it is hard to believe, but this scent played quite an important role in my life. Namely, it forced me to believe in Murphy’s Law and here is the story about that… At first, I had smelt Pure from the bottle in the perfume store and I did not like it. Nevertheless, I decided to splash some on my arm. Alas, the spray mechanism was broken, so a lot of the liquid ended up on my arm. Couple of minutes later I had just one wish – to scrub it out. On my way to home, I met a girl whom I liked for some time. We were talking for about ten minutes. She was watching me somehow… weird, during our conversation, and I could be quite sure that the reason was my goofy smell. When I came home, another pleasant surprise was just waiting for me: there was no water… the reason: some problem with the installations or something like that. Well, I had to bear Pure for another couple of hours. I would just like to add that Pure reminds me of Echo with a mellow touch of Banderas’ Diavolo, maybe... and maybe not. In sum, this is an ideal present for someone you really, really, really hate. 04 July 2008

Crisp, fizzy citrus. Not like the other chemically messy cesspools like most of the other Boss fragrances. Is this a new trend for fragrances? Moon Sparkle by Escada and the new IZOD for Men have similar effervescent qualities to them. Pure seems to have better sillage and longevity of the three on my skin. 10 June 2008

Although I'm not usually a fan of Boss fragrances, I found myself really enjoying Pure this past weekend when I wore it out to a fancy casino. The opening is very very grapefruity - in fact this is all you will smell if sprayed on a card. It's a very dry grapefruit smell. The grapefruit dries down into a dry but lightly spicy, very 'fresh' scent. I'll be honest I didn't closely analyze the notes because I was busy at the casino, but I could smell it on myself and it worked with my fancy casino 'outfit' and working the blackjack tables. This is another designer 'fresh' scent, but it does it much better than most offerings. 03 June 2008
