I've recently purchased this locally. Gucci II is a lighthearted ozonic when applied on my skin ( the black hole that it is) and I have yet to detect violet in my multiple wearings ( for which I am grateful)

It is subtle while it moves from opening to middle and I do find (also) that it lingers on the top notes for quite some time. What I perceived to be pimento barely reared its head, but was accounted for along with barely perceptible cinnamon.

I found the basenotes to be odd in the sense that this is the first designer frag I've worn to be as subtle with woods as this. Not a bad thing mind you, just different. I have enough powerhouse scents if I want to go down that road.

All in all, a very good bottle of juice, albeit light, suitable for winter or summer.

Fantastically-blended, very subtle frag with slight oriental and ozonic leanings but never ends up firmly in any one camp. Fresh enough to be a warm-weather scent, and spicy enough to be a cold-weather scent -- yet adroitly avoids being a total spice bomb. As for the purported tea note -- I find it difficult to determine whether what we're smelling is truly tea, or a combination of spices that evokes tea through clever olfactory manipulation. Despite going fairly heavy on the cinammon -- an ingredient that is quite difficult to weave in without going overboard -- it never completely becomes an oriental because whatever vanilla that there is just whispers at you, and there's an interesting saltiness (probably caused by the pimento) to the mix that offsets the sweetness nicely. In fact, the entire experience is a chorus of whispers, and that's what makes it so different.

I don't get how people can dismiss this as just another mainstream frag - I can't think of anything that smells quite like this. And for the record, it is TOTALLY different from GPH 1 -- which is an admirable scent in its own right, but a bit of a one-trick pencil-shavings pony and in no way comparable to its little brother.

Having said all this, the opening is a tad bright, dry and strident -- much like Sander Man, which has a different makeup but a similar dry brightness, this juice can sizzle your nose-hairs and fry some nerve cells if you inhale too deeply. The upside is that sillage is outrageous, if that's what you are after.

BTW, you know what would make this one absolutely perfect -- a tiny dollop of meow-mix (civet). Rrrrrrrr.

I absolutely love the tea note in this one. Its much better than I expected. Great drydown, but is plagued by the longevity issue that PH1 had...doesn't last as long as one would like.
Either way, this one is excellent while it lasts.

The violet in the opening notes of GPHII is delish! Everybody that said this is a sweeter and softer Tea for Two is correct. Personally, I prefer this to T4T because who really wants to smell like Earl Grey Tea in public? Not me. It is a very subtle scent, it lasts for a little while on my skin 4-5 hrs and then it's gone. Probobly shorter lasting on other ppl's skin b/c my skin tends to hold on to fragrances longer. Overall not a bad scent.

Nice opening: Well-balanced, clean, masculine, slightly aromatic… I like it in spite of the violet leaf. And the opening seems to last impressively, which is a tribute to the blending where the opening notes slowly dissolve out while the middle tea and spices dissolve in. Without realizing the movement, I’m suddenly aware that I’m smelling pimiento and cinnamon is a sea of tea. Nice. It has a solid drydown that is smooth and richer than the typical modern designer releases. Nthny is absolutely correct in that this is a lighter version of Lalique Equus. I prefer this one because of the muted violet leaf and the cleaner, less aromatic woods. One of the better modern releases…

I love love love love this fragrance, sweet and spicy in a sexy delicious way. Can't stop smelling it on my arm.

This is one of those fragrances that's been sitting on my shelf, and though I know I like it I never quite find the right day to wear it. To start off with, it's quite strong sillage wise, and the first time I wore it I OD'd, requiring a wash-off during my lunch break from work. Perhaps this soured me on wearing it for a while.

Having given it another chance today I remember why I liked it enough to buy it. As with other Gucci offerings, GPHII is fairly linear and serves as a great, wearable, all-day scent. My initial reaction is to the semi-sweet, strong floral violet note. The primary accord is a three way balancing act between this violet, (the strength of which subsides fairly quickly), cinnamon that provides sharpness, and a base of strong black tea. Secondary notes of musk provide powder and tobacco and woodsy notes lend depth. The tea/spice/violet mix lasts for hours (6-8) on me, and as I mentioned before, throws very decent sillage. As many as 12 hours after application I can still sense woods and musk lurking closely to the skin.

GPHII is definitely a 'try before you buy' because if you don't like it's sweet-sharpness there would be no compromising and 'sort of' liking it. This could comfortably be worn anywhere and in any weather, and as someone mentioned below, women seem to dig it. Thumbs up for Gucccccci!

a very spicy and sweet scent reminiscent of no other. not as masculine as GPH but a winner as well. a bit weak in comparison also but i still like it.

Not a fan of the opening, very spicey and sweet. Strong. This scent is always dominated by spice and then slightly offset by sweet, warm tones. Over all I'd have to say its growing on me but I wish I had bought something else instead. Nothing negative, its a unique pleasant smell I just don't really want to wear it often enough to make it worth while. Never tried the original so I can't compare it either.

I love the spiciness of this. I can't stop smelling it on my skin when it is on. A very sexy fragrance.

Cinnamon, spice and other things nice. That's what this is. Along with Hugo Boss Dark Blue and Sander Man, these are my three "purple" fragrances that get interchanged. Each have their own awesome qualities while leaving me wanting more of the other. Gucci II makes me wish for the cinnamon and the sharp sweetness in it to be in Dark Blue but combined with the myrrh and citrus of Sander Man. Excellent violet. Casual and a little "dirty".

This is by far my favorite scent. From the initial spray to the drydown, it stays spicy and masculine. Every girl I know seems to love it, as well, which is a definite plus.

This is a smooth scent. Spicy (tea-cinnamon) opening and sweet woody dry-down, its a winner. I suspect that the "experts" who declare this to be bland or ho-hum refuse to acknowledge any fragrance that isn't strong in the traditional 80s power frag kind of way. GPH II is subtle and needs to be appreciated differently.

This fragrance is dominated by spiciness. Although the cinnamon notes are in the middle, they seem to last on me all day. The longevity is great. It is a very unique scent that I don't get with any other frag I have smelled. I enjoy it, it is unique.

I like this, don't love it, but like it enough to keep it in my rotation. The violet, and black tea hit you right away, and I suspect, the reasons I keep returning for more. This is an un-complicated, easy to wear fragrance, and I allways feel good wearing it. Mostly, a daytime, or weekend type of fragrance, but compared to the boring releases of late, I have to give this a thumbs up.

I LOVE GUCCI POUR HOMME II!!! It's sexy, it's casual, it's masculant, but as funny as it sounds, a girl could probably pull this off too! Esquire Mag' described it best, this fragrance smells like fresh chopped cedarwood sprinkled with cinnamon and baby powder... and there you go! From the first initial blast you can really smell the bergamot and violet leaves, but soon after the black tea and cinnamon really kicks in annnnnnnnd theeeeeen... pretty much dries down to a base of... black tea! Which is just fine with me. To me Gucci PHII almost smells like a light potpouri, if that's a better description to those who haven't tested it yet. Y'know, for an EDT "Department Store" fragrance, this isn't bad. It's easy to wear and it's different, in a good way of course! Did you know it took Gucci 2 years to make this stuff?! Or so I've read. And for the record, (In my opinion of course) Gucci Pour Homme I (the orange one Tom Ford was behind) is disgusting! Yeah, that's right! It's nasty and even after all of the basenotes "Thumbs Up" reviews, I still couldn't convince myself that it was good. It smells like a mix of Body Odor, Pencil Shavings and Hot Paint Thinner... and that's being all too literal! Yeah, it's garbage! But anyways, GPHII is nice, especially as a little side scent that wont break your bank. I'm a CREED guy so... it's nice to have something less expensive on the side, y'know. And this stuff is great all year 'round, it fits well with every season. Oh, and by the way, nice lookin' bottle and liquid too! GPHII, Thumbs Up! A nice light warm scent!

One of the best perfumes these days!!! After all my MDCI's, Le Labos and les Rosines as a female I chose THIS ONE to be my signature frag !!! Gorgeous!!!

Though not as great as it's ancestor, the original GPH that graced into our lives in 2003, GPH II does not fail to impress. It's lighter than the original (well, quite a deal lighter considering GPH is one of the most domineering scents out there) and terribly unique considering the other "light" scents out there. It also shares a slight woodiness/spiciness that it retained from the original. Is it just me or is it somewhat sour with a rhubarb note in there or something. I could care less; it's a delightful scent for warmer weather for those who really prefer colder weather scents.

It lacks that slightly harsh feeling of it's predecessor and as such lapses into 'sameness and safeness'. I think I'll stick to the first effort and Gucci Envy thanks!

I really don't like the spiciness of the pour Homme 1, but this is just amazing! Very soft and suttle, perfect for spring/summer nights out. Wear this perfum with elegance, I love it!!

Great stuff. It smells amazing. Pimento comes out...smells like a really good mixed drink.

a totally new scent from gucci: it has elements from the original GPH in the drydown, but the opening is very green-fresh. i find it perfect to wear in the summer,but not as sophisticated as GPH. a very nice fragrance.

It's a softer Tea for Two

This grabbed me right away, nice clean and warm. I am not a big fan of Gucci's other colognes but this one has a uniqueness that drew me like a magnet

It smells very familiar, yet unique... Fresh and in the same time warm. It's like a combination of Davidoff Echo and Dior Fahrenheit, with a flair of the great fragrances of the 90s, but fresh, modern, NOW!!!

This stuff smells good. Women seem to like it a lot. Has a soft spicy smell to it. Get it.

GPH II reminds me of other fragrances, but that could be because of the top notes--not that this is a bad thing! On the contrary, I really liked GPH II's top notes. They are a wonderful introduction to this 2007 creation, not to speak of the tremendous bottle!

The color combination of the solid square bottle filled with blue liquid topped by a brushed Gold cap is inviting and pleasant and, of course, somewhat unusual. Aren't the best things always?

As time passes, the other notes make their appearance, but at a gentle pace, almost reluctantly. That, or my nose was a bit stuffy today (it was, but not badly). Either way, it was still delicious. The amazing thing I found was that the initial citrus--bergamot--never did quite find its way out of the picture and exerted a nice, easy presence. I know I could definitely smell the spice of the pepper intermingled in there and that lent a certain sharp quality that made you take notice every so often.

With even more time, a calm, almost melodious accord appears. This happens rather quickly, I suppose; more on this. In general, GPH II stays close to the body, but I could tell it's got good sillage and should please anyone who cares to smell you, voluntarily or otherwise.

This is a great perfume, I believe it's one of the best traditional citrus fragrances I've tried to date. In fact, I like it so much, I'm assigning it five stars. The one drawback: longevity, but it's nowhere as bad as you may think. With a good six to seven hours (and longer, if you care to sniff close), it scores a four out of five. The reason it gets a five even though I usually don't give that score to a perfume which doesn't last at least eight hours is because I understand it's chemically tough to create a citrus perfume with much longevity. The molecular weights of the chemicals involved is just not that substantial.

If you like a sprightly, definitely interesting fragrance, there are worse things you can do than invest in a bottle of Gucci Pour Homme II.

A very nice scent, I must say! I tried it mostly because I love the woody original, the baby blue juice scared me, it looks like something "fresh" and insipid but no. It's the straightforward, rugged, warm freshness of black tea and bergamot (instead of some horrid ozone/aquatic/mint/eucalyptus) over a very smooth and creamy woody base. I get hints of licorice, tonka and vanilla, but not too sweet. Perhaps a hint of musk, like very fresh sweat on a very hot person, not enough to offend anyone. The tea and spice and tobacco and wood almost give a leathery feel, but a soft and comforting leather, not raw. Very stylish, I'm really pleasantly surprised.

smell's great. a guy who knows me from coming in dillard's to smell scents gave me a head's up on this one, but he said it will probably be out one day this week. i love the rich smell of it and it seems to me to be very playboy-ish. and we men all like that! or do we? ;) i'm a beginner with all the notes and stuff but i tell you i loved the scent; i will be getting this one!

This one has a very fresh and interesting scent. I have a slight difficulty sorting out the different ingredients. I have never been very good at that anyway. But I think this one has good top and heartnotes and then it becomes a little week at the end. It could be that I had allready tried several others that day and my nose could not register more. This is a elegant and fresh scent. I might try this one later. For now I give it a thumbs up.

WOW. So This fragrance has been on my wishlist since I discovered this website and that it was coming out. I have to say that after owning GPH, GPH 2 is just like it in many ways, there is the common myrrh note but other than it's style that's where the similarities end. It's a very nice fragrance though, the violet leaves are short lived and disappear within ten minutes of application, however the pimento and olive wood are a lil reminiscent of a dirty martini while the cinnamon and the black tea really come out and settle in to the tobacco leaves offer a greenish scent that really helps to make for a very unique frag. If you can imagine what a summer version of the original might smell like, this is it.

Very nice and surprising! Starts off fresh and then warms down to a spicy, clove-like fragrance or something like that. For me, I like this much better than the regular Pour Homme. The bottle with the light aquamarine liquid color is nicer, too.
