Virgin Island Water is precise, tropical, and enjoyable. It’s a satisfying, competent fragrance. The top presents a refreshing citrus / coconut accord. Very soon it becomes creamy – heavier on the coconut, lighter on the lime to my nose. It’s very nice. The middle florals and spice retain the coconut note, as does the musky, sweet base… the rum seems quite weak to me. I see the fragrance as basically linear because of the coconut. As much as I like Virgin Island Water, I’ve smelled pretty much the same thing in a few other recent fragrances. Concerning it’s relative place in the hierarchy of tropical fragrances, I just don’t know where it is positioned, and I’m not interested enough in the genre to investigate that particular hierarchy. Virgin Island Water is an attractive fragrance but I just can’t shake the feeling that I could get about the same experience from a bottle of sun tan oil. One final thought: it’s not feminine on my skin, it’s creamy, it’s coconut, and it’s very pleasant… and, no, I’m not talking about Coppertone… but I could be.

Coconut, lime and rum. How much more Caribbean can you get? Out of place in any other months but the hot, hot summer. A very bright and playful boozy scent that's on the other side of the spectrum as Paul Smith London where that's much, much darker but still heavy on the boozy smell. I'd rather be at the real place than to imagine what it'd be like.

If this was a body spray or lotions at Bath & Body Works, I'd probably buy it. There is no way I'd pay $110.0 for an ounce of this stuff, though. Virgin Island Water is so much like Ananas Fizz on my skin, that I've actually confused them. Virgin Island Water is heavy on the coconut, though, while Ananas Fizz highlights pineapple. Virgin Island Water has fabulous lasting power. It's a refreshing, sugary, coconut-citrus, rum cocktail of a fragrance. This is nice for men and women, especially in hot, humid weather. If I didn't already have a huge bottle of Ananas Fizz I might be tempted by Virgin Island Water, but I doubt I'll be purchasing this scent.

I agree with the others in that Virgin Island Water is a very basic scent: coconut, pineapple, and sugar. It also reminds me of a coconut scented suntan lotion during the drydown, albeit way sweeter than any lotion could be. It's not bad but if I were looking for a scent like this, then I would opt of L'artisan Ananaz Fizz or CSP Vanille Coco before I bought a bottle of the Creed. I find those to be more groundbreaking rather than just on par with other tropical scents. However, Virgin Island Water does earn points for good sillage and longevity.

I had high expectations for this, but I must admit I am a bit disappointed. My initial reaction is that it smells good, but quite a bit like coconut-flavoured cookies; and although I like eating cookies, I wouldn't want to smell like one.

Use this on a summer day during a vacation? maybe. If I had to give one of my frags up this would be the first to go, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it at all...

Like Erolfa, I expected more from this.
The bottle and name are beautiful, but the scent is dominated by Lime Initially, and the drydown is not enough Coconut or Hibiscus I think.

It's a very good unisex cologne, but for the price consumer deserves a stronger, richer version of the same scent.

Nice, but…

Both my wife and I tried Virgin Island Water, and both came to the same conclusion: it’s very pretty, but it smells too much like suntan lotion to spend hundreds of dollars on. Coconut is the villain here. Well-integrated coconut can lend fragrances a certain creamy richness, as in Philosykos, Carnal Flower, or Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Bamboo. But when it’s prominent and isolated, as in Virgin Island Water, it quickly gets me thinking “Coppertone.” Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier’s Bahiana is another tropical fruit blend that’s spiked with coconut, but I find its coconut in better balance, effectively blended with a rich base of gaiac and rosewood. If you’re looking for a tropical cocktail scent for the summer, I suggest you try both Virgin Island Water and Bahiana. Each has its strengths, but one might suit you better than the other.

I found this one to smell very nice at first. What I found to really stand out were the ginger, lime, and coconut notes and it reminded me of drinks you'd normally get on holiday in some swanky resort in the tropics on a gorgeous beach. So a very leisurely, fresh vibe to it. However, after about an hour of wearing it, I had this whiff of fermented citrus/ rotten ginger and actually thought of checking my bag to see whether I hadn't forgotten a tangerine in it... That pong turned out to be the drydown, and it's a real pity because the opening notes were so fresh ans natural as zztopp said. I suppose that the scent I perceived as being "fermented" must have been the one intented to smell like white rum (which is after all fermented sugar cane juice, so...), but hey, not all of us have the olfactory finesse of Oliver/Erwin Creed. So I suppose that altough it is an interesting and pretty fragrance at first, it's not really one I, for one, would find very wearable because of the alcoholic drydown.

I have just received a sample of this and have to admit that i am a bit dissapointed. Fron now on, no more blind impulse purchases on Creed fragrances anymore.

This one opens with a freshness, but not the typical freshnes of citrus like in previous Creed colognes; it is slightly sapped with Coconut.

As it progresses, gone is the freshness and light sweetness and powderiness sets it but without typical Creed aqua signature. It doesn't change very much even much later on.

On thing about it, aside from not being very well suited for a man, is the effects it can have on you. It can put you in a good mood or make you slightly randy if you know what i mean. Thats probably due to aprodisiac effects of high quality ylang-ylang and musk.

Overall, this smell s like a glucose shot to me. It is sweet, not suitable to summers and without sublime distinction; it is very light and mild though.

What has happened to Creed quality? Here is what....Creed has stared to mass produce now; became too market oriented....gone are quality days when someone that is actually talented spends several years creating a single masterpiece. Creeds do not have talent....but only quality ingriendiends and family secrets of the trade due to long tradition and thats why there is no real flare to them. On the other hand, if you like a Creed cologne it is kind of hard to get sick of it. Some of them take some time to figure them out completely.

Now his son Edwin, from Italian mother, will ruin Creed already modest talent. Italians were never genetically capable of producing sublime quality of perfume like French can do. He just doesn't have it; he thinks that any change to set standards is always good plus he just doesn't have the "gift" like in the movie "Perfumer" with Dustin Hoffman.

Don't buy this....rather wait it out until he comes with yet another flop. But you never know...

The initial citrus burst of lime is perfectly balanced with the scent of coconut. With drydown, the lime sadly dissipates much too quickly. The lingering base of tonkin musk/coconut was quite powdery on my wrist. Not unpleasant but not what I was hoping for. Too feminine.
On the upside - Longevity was better than anticipated. Also, not an overly cloying or sweet fragrance.
I won't comment on sillage as I had only applied some to one wrist.
For this price, not a good 'blind buy'.

Lucky enough to bump into a Creed rep and managed to get a sample.
Initial thoughts being another very light fragrance from Creed, barely giving out anything specific.
Coconut was all I was getting. Soon disapeared to nothing. Then 6hrs later, there it was again, smelling somewhat more pleasant.
Now it's 30hrs later and the coat from yesterday still has the pleasant coconut scent, along with some other notes ????
Have run out now but looking forward to further trials!
