As noted by others, the opening is similar to that of Cartier’s Déclaration. What dominates here are coniferous notes and the presentation is classy, but there is something ‘dirty’ lurking in the background. Interesting and well done. Notes (per fragrantica.com website):

Top notes: rosemary, artemisia, coriander, galbanum and lemon
Middle notes: carnation, cypress, iris, cinnamon, lavender and jasmine
Base notes: sandalwood, fir, amber, patchouli, musk, coconut, vetiver, incense and cedar

A nice, dry cedar wood much like Declaration with a touch of spice. Smoother than Declaration and a little more floral, it's a very nice alternative to heavier woody fragrances.

A Big Thumbs up for this one. Like mentioned already, this intially smells some like declaration only difference, this has no smoky character and cetainly doesnt have vanilla, and for those who have sniffed Unforgivable, it smells exactly like one until mid notes. please keep in mind unforgivable was released almost a decade after this GEM. by no means i find any resemblance to Azzaro PH.

This is a classic and a must have. is slightly on the weaker side but liberal sprays would give one over 10+ hours (10-12 sprays). this is a kind of Scent which will wow one right of the spritzer...has a nice fruity, floral openin done in a very masculine way.

starts of with a burst of "spicy" basil and sweet citrus note with the bitter artemisia giving it a slightly herbal touch. one of those scents which will make you feel fresh thruout the day. this one stays bright until the end and there is never a dull moment. a great everyday wear and can only garner compliments and simply cannot offend anyone

i think it's the sexier brother of azzaro pour homme. the same "classy after shave" spirit, the same fresh attitude... silky, soapy, a little bit floral and very virile. using sometimes since 1998, i have not got bored of this one a minute... i think it would be more than ok for summer evenings... first class cologne from the first class lighter corporation.

Very warm wintery fragrance. Once of my signature scents for sure. At first appears a bit strong, but once it dries down, it's a woody elegant fragrance that truly stands alone. Like others have stated, it starts off a bit like Declaration -- but with less of a sharp edge right out of the gate. In short, class in a bottle.

S. T. Dupont has an opening quite similar to Cartier Déclaration—I think it’s more successful. I had difficulty in learning to enjoy the opening in Déclaration, but with S. T. Dupont, it wasn’t a problem. And this one doesn’t have that synthetic tinge that I find in Déclaration. In spite of the herbs and conifers in the top notes, this scent doesn’t have an aromatic feel to it—it delivers something similar to the Déclaration bitter orange note and delivers it cleanly and lastingly. The mid notes are understated with a subtle coniferous / floral accord still influenced by the long lasting citric top notes. The base, too, is subtle and I get a pleasant leather wrapped in an airy patchouli. S. T. Dupont seems to stay close to the skin, producing very little sillage. Because the opening citric note is so prominent all the way through, I would say the fragrance is linear. It’s a very good scent—I like it better than Déclaration and its price is quite reasonable considering its quality. But what an unfortunate set of initials this scent has.
