Opening blast is intense and very enjoyable...it's like a quick preview of the whole scent in one shot...whts interesting is this, the herbal midnotes is just like PDN New York..more like New York and to a lesser extent Chanel PM. the leather is very subtle and as others mentioned has got a powdery, soapy Vibe to it. no complex vibes going on. it by no means has any of the spicy warmth of PDN NY...but the trademark herbal Bite, is just there...PDN probably had this as an inspiration to build on...lovely scent, nothing extraordinary, yet, it goes back in time and has it's charm to it.

This fragrance convinces me that a lot of what we think of as "leather" fragrance is actually a saddle soap fragrance, which we associate with leather. This is a wonderful combination of saddle soap and barbershop with just a touch of an unidentifiable "dirty" element that makes it very interesting. Clean and yet not entirely clean. A wonderful masculine fragrance of great suavity and charm, Trumper's Spanish Leather goes beyond any label as "casual" or "dressy". Yes, it's casual and yes it's dressy, leathery and yet, more than that. An excellent product from a first rate house.

My complete (and only) favorite. A little soapy and powdery, but what a natural smell that intrigues but doesn't intrude. Problem is, it fades very quickly on my dry skin! Bummer.

This is the best Spanish Leather I have ever owned. The scent is elusive but very festive - wonderfully spicy and leathery. The combinations of rose, clove and tobacco combine to radiate warmth and masculinity - and it is very long lasting. Great for winter and especially for the holidays - sitting next to an open fire really brings out the warmth of this scent. A great Trumper!

The top is a lovely accord of cologne notes underscored by leather. A light, sweet vanillic opening with a citrus brightness subtly accenting the rough saddle leather. I like this. It is a smoother fragrance than truefitt's cologne of the same name which is rougher with more pronounced spice.

Like a barbershop in church. I LOVE this scent!! It's all there: leather, soap, some cigar undertones, hickory wood, a dash of musk, hence all the ingredients that make men MEN. Nothing at all like those ghastly, make-a-run-for-the-nearest-window colognes you find at Macy's or Nordstrom. Trumper's is a very welcoming, quaint shop in London(I was there in late 2005) that sells "tests of time", not the latest, flash in the pan designer fragrance that'll be in the bargain bins two years from now. I just ordered GFT's Marlborough and I expect it to give me the same satisfaction, if not more. Kudos to the House of Trumper. They don't hand out those royal appointments for nothing, I see.

First, this scent smelld ghastly and repulsive on my skin, somewhat musty, fleshy, unberably heavy, simply " dirty" and far too unilateral. But the drydown changed my perspectives and turned it gradually into one of the most exquisite olfactory experiences i ever knew- the impression of leather not as a cheap fetish but as an exclusive accessory, of old Cordoba leather, tobacco and old, expensive collector's edition books bound in leather and dull gold remained. The drydown was...leathery, with moderate spicy touches, and, on a more abstract level, hints&memories of aristocratic luxury.

It seems to me that leather scents fall into two categories: either they are, 1) sharp and bright, rather in-your-face and almost chemical like the leather of a new leather jacket, or 2) soft and soapy, with a clean, powdery sort of scent like saddle leather that's been washed regularly. I guess this is because, technically speaking, when you smell leather you are really smelling either the chemicals that were used to tan it, or you are smelling the soap and chemicals used to clean it. Trumpers' Spanish Leather is of the soapy, warm, powdery variety and that is fine by me. I find this one to be slightly similar to Creed's Royal English Leather, but I like this one better (I know, the purists will now sigh and shake their heads at me) because it feels lighter and cleaner to me. It feels less soapy when I wear it and I get more of a whiff of what I would call "leather." This is one leather I might actually buy a bottle of as it is just soapy enough to feel clean without feeling like I have a soap scum residue on me, and still masculine too. Good stuff.

I didn't know what to expect when I tried Spanish Leather, the reviews were mixed. To my pleasnat surprise I found them a great guide.
It is sweet and does have a pleasant, fresh soapiness..not at all overpowering.
Has the elegance and subtle sophistication which is a
keynote of Trumper.
If there is a leather note it is well hidden unlike Caswell-Masseys Persian Leather.

Awesome. One of my favorite Trumper's. Savory, warm and full-o-class.

This is a very fresh and sweet leathery scent. I splashed it on in the bathroom, spilling a little on the sink in the process. Went out, casual attire, got lots of 'ooh thats nice' comments from friends. Got home, went to the bathroom, and thought - blimey, thats fresh and nice. Indeed, this is a fresh, sweet and leathery scent. Wasn't expecting it, but another Trumper Gem (like Eucris).
