As with other Gucci offerings, Rush is a fairly unique entity.... there are some similarities with Azzaro Visit, but I find Rush much more wearable.

Basically Rush is a light woods fragrance, balanced with slight powder and very light floral/lavender. It's essentially linear. The woodsy notes feel slightly burnt, like smelling a chimney fire from a couple blocks away.

The white 8-track cassette box is neat - nothing groundbreaking - but I don't find it as unbearable as others.

Now that Rush is discontinued some retailers are jacking up the price, which is ludicrous given that they probably have plenty of stock. Spend a little time researching and you'll find it for suggested retail....

I cannot believe to see all these negative reviews here: this fragrance is just perfection. So dry, yet so pleasant, incredibly sexy. I cannot count how many compliments I have received from wearing this. It is like the perfect aphrodisiac.

The most obvious note here is the cedarwood, which is nothing short of sublime. It is very very well-handled, and instead of balancing it with some flower or vanilla, they add even more wood layers on it, which makes the scent very ballsy. That is what I love about it, it goes all the way to the end with its woodsy/dry identity. The lavender, which I detect, is just there for fun, because it does not do anything for the fragrance other than the first spray of application.

I love this fragrance, so many good memories. Though, it is getting harder and harder to find it, I think it is being discontinued. gucci.com doesn't even list it anymore.. Such a loss if you ask me. It is hard to find a modern one note-type fragrance that smells sexy and young, yet light but complicated all at once and to me that is what Rush always has been. Some people describe it as it smells like a sauna though, which I kinda get what they mean actually.

The bottle, which everybody hates, I absolutely love. It is a white block, very minimalist, something that would come out from Japan or something. It does look like a Apple computer gadget though: I'll give you that. I loved the advertising, and the feminine versions (Rush, Rush 2 for Woman) as well. They are seductive as this one, yet as well as any other Gucci release, became a little too popular for their own good.

One final note, the Rush series from Gucci were marketed towards a younger crowd when they first came out unlike Gucci pour Homme, or Gucci Eau de Parfum. Hence the plastic toy-like bottles, cheaper price tags, and bright colors. They were Gucci's answer to all the mindless and endless creations and releases from Emporio Armani. (Remember he/she, White he/she etc.) Marketed for a younger crowd, these scents attracted many young people to these brands who later became loyal customers after 5 or 6 years and getting a little older. That is why Rush doesn't feel as timeless as let's say Envy or pour Homme, because I suppose it was never meant to be.

I bought a small sample bottle of this back in fall and always reached for it before everything else in my rotation. Now I'm out and even though its listed as in production, its really hard to get. The irony of this cologne to me was that I found it not to smell overly woodsy, but more sweet and clean on me. Very simple even. Gucci always has great looking bottles, this one is not one of them. Not that I care what a bottle looks like but its just a shame this scent is so hard to find now. Very good, give it a try.

Well, shoot me if you don't agree but I find some similarities to Trump for men , if only in their fresh-without-resorting-to-musk notes theme. I can't really get Visit out of this one but that's probably just me!

This for me is a sexy perfume. It smells of the sweetest sweat on a man once it starts working with his body chemistry (provided his body chemistry works with the scent). In my opinion this is a masculine scent for a man who has strength, sex appeal and a bit of attitude. On a metro, weedy or girly guy it doesnt seem to work.

Gucci Rush is indeed a very nice scent. There is a fleeting resemblance to Azzaro Visit for 30 seconds and I don't think this smell has anything similar to Visit—it would be unjust to claim that two fragrances are similar... reminds me of Gucci pour Homme most of the time, yet I vastly prefer Gucci pH. Rush is thick in character with a smoky incense and rich woods. It has a lot of irresistible charisma, and completely unique fragrance which really does't reminds me anything else. It is the benchmark for Gucci fragrances. The cyber-shot bottle is comfortable to travel which is perfect for putting to pocket! Y2k symbol scents.

A definite must-have for the connoisseur of Visit and Gucci PH in that Rush shares that same distinct woodiness with both scents. It's not as dry as Visit, no, nor as distinctly cedar-y as Gucci PH, but it's still woody all the way. There's a soft musk note that develops into the drydown to soften things up, and the much discussed incense note for just a touch ("just a touch" being the key phrase here) of sweetness.

It's one I like very much, yes, but not one that I'm "rushing" out to buy.

After the scuttlebutt I had heard, I was expecting to not like this. I didn’t meet my own expectations. I really enjoy the simplicity, beauty, and directness of Rush. The first couple of seconds of the fragrance are confused, but it quickly settles down to an excellent coniferous note with a touch of lavender. I’m so glad that the lavender is kept subtle, to use more would have been a mistake, I believe. Anyway, the opening and middle are extremely woody in character with a judicious touch of incense and patchouli: very clean coniferous and other woodnotes unmuddied by herbs. I love it even though there is a touch of synthetic ‘aftertaste’ to it. Gucci Rush stays quite linear and continues on basically unchanged for an incredible length of time. I find that this is a very pleasant, a very comforting fragrance, and I enjoy it immensely—the perfect fireplace fragrance.
Gucci Rush has been accused of lacking depth, and all I can say is, ‘Well, of course it does! It’s a Gucci, isn’t it?’ Gucci consistently creates wonderful smelling, long-lasting, wearable scents, and that seems to be entirely what Gucci is aiming at. They do not attempt to create a mystique with their scents or tell a story or impress the connoisseur with complexity layered upon unwearably heady accords. They make wonderfully smelling, long-lasting, wearable scents and I don’t see a problem with that. Sometimes a cigar is just a good smoke.

I agree with MonkeyManMatt. This one is discrete, warm, woody ambience. Not extreemly strong sillage - but not bad at all. Theres definitely something with the smell - maybe the incense that definitely does it for me.

So good! The opening is such a brash and impolite blast of dry cedar that I can see why people have the initial adverse reaction. If one just waits a few minutes it all sorts itself out beautifully into a milky warm glow with lovely balance. Really one of the great drydowns I've ever experienced.

This is the first scent I bought, the one that led me into this hobby. Sevaral years later, my nose has developed considerably but my affection for this hasn't diminished one bit.

On me, this one kicks out some serious patchouli and incense. For some reason I feel younger when I wear it, even though I associate patchouli with hippies (old) and incense with Benedictine monks (even older). Somehow, this just works with my skin. I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone - it is woodsy, dry, and reeking of incense - but I found that I could wear it day or night, so long as the occasion was casual. It's not sophisticated or complex, it's not as classy as Gucci Pour Homme, and it does smell synthetic, but like the Diesel fragrances, I think you need to wear it with a mind tuned toward fun, not taking it too seriously or expecting it to be what it is not.

Ahh the smell of sawing down christmas trees before dawn on a winters morning. Brazen beyong belief. Turin never mentions this scent without calling it "reckless" its a great word. Ballsy, ballsy stuff.

I love dry woody fragrances, so that means this is a beauty in my eyes - I'll go against the grain and say that it is by far and away my favourite Gucci. It makes me want to be a carpenter. The name's a little Euro-tacky though.

Mysteriously woodsy with a hint of spice...Rush is a fantastic scent...built somewhat along the same lines as YSL Rive Gauche for men, but not quite as bold...it is a scent for those who like something different, while it seems to be the least appreciated of all of the Gucci scents for men, it is deffinately not the worst, and quite possibly the best, perfect for those long summer afternoons that just melt away into romantic evenings on the town...Rush is as comfortable in LA as it is in NY, subtle, and liked by all, it must be experianced to be fully understood...

An extremely woody fragrance, feels as if the fragrance is one big block of cedar. However this is not negative, the pure simplicity of the woody-smoky blend makes me feel like a hippy lumberjack. Great for cold and wet Winter weather.

On me the clear woods and light musks melds with my own skin and smells warm, but never sweet, which is unusual on me. I underdtand this doesn't work for everyone, but it's one of my staples. I have used up several bottles allready.

Masculine scent that dries down very pleasantly.
If Gucci would change their cheap plastic container, one that never stays glued together, their ratings and sales would surely head North.

I really like the refined woodiness of Rush, but was disappointed at how short lived it was on me. I mentioned this many times on the Basenotes Forum. Until the day I had to retract it.
This happened after I put some Rush on before spending an entire day at the beach, where I frequently went into the water. Many hours after getting home, I had a shower before going to bed. Much to my amazement, I walked out of the shower smelling of Gucci Rush.
So it's not short lasting, but instead seems to have a fairly variable output on me. The only other scent I've come across that shares this characteristic is Alfredo Domingues' Vetiver.
Gucci sure know how to make a woody scent, the only scent I know that is woodier than Rush, is Gucci Pour Homme.

Don't at all understand all criticism towards this fragrance. Ok if you look for a scent that's gonna reek all day, this shouldn't be your first choice. However if you appreciate a discrete warm, woody ambience, go for Rush!

At first smell, I thought it to be too woody, too much cedar..but as it dries down, it took on a completely different scent. It's quite appealing! I've received many compliments as well. One of the first fragrances that gets better after your body's chemistry blends with it! Very different..not your mainstream run of the mill scent
