I am a huge fan of Creed fragrances and i can easily say this is the masterpiece of Creed house. Very fresh but longlasting. Perfect for evey condition, every season. I own zillion of fragrances but this will be my number one

Never failed to get me compliments.
It's one of those scents that I never get tired of and more importantly whenever in doubt, I always reach for this one. Of course that's not to say I don't normally go for it as first choice, which I usually do.
Go sample it in a store.

I liked the wearing I got from a sample and was surprised at the longevity since I expected less. I'm not a big fan of violet, but I like it in this juice. From top to drydown. it was linear and pleasant with decent projection. The sandalwood was very good holding anchor.

Is it worth $120 plus per bottle? Not to me, but price point aside, this is a very nice scent that will get the wearer noticed.

With all the talk of how GIT and Cool Water smell so similar, and the fact that I think Aspen and Cool Water smell similar, I finally broke down and ordered a sample vial of GIT to see for myself. Is it similar to Cool Water? You bet. But I think Aspen is closer to GIT than Cool Water is. It's the lemon in the top note of both Aspen and GIT. CW doesn't have it.

Bottom line: GIT is typically outstanding Creed fragrance. But if you're on a budget, save your money and buy Aspen. Unless you've got an extremely discriminating nose, Aspen smells enough like GIT to satisfy anyone who finds the notes in GIT appealing.

While this is surely the most popular and touted of all the Creed fragrances, and the one that the masses are familiar with, it is not my favourite Creed. Despite that, I must say that it is a truly beguiling green blend, at once fresh and masculine and clean, with a slightly woody base. But really, a green character is what this fragrance is about, and it does it superbly. The quality of the natural ingredients is again unsurpassed, but really, this is to be expected from a Millesime. I enjoy the brief citrus opening of lemon and verbena, but the heart of authentic Parma violet leaves and Florentine iris is sublime, and is where the fragrace really speaks its magical volumes! The base is the typical Creed Millesime base of Mysore sandalwood, ambergris and musk. It is a fabulous, beautiful scent that is a joy to smell and wear anytime, whether during the day at work or out for a nice formal evening (very very versatile), and also works well regardless of the weather. I know that there are a lot of Creed skeptics and haters who feel that it is just a more expensive version of Curve or Cool Water, but they should be honest with themselves. You get what you pay for, for one thing. If you want to buy a 40$ synthetic chemical 'designer' garbage fragrance that was produced with no thought or originality, then Cool Water or Curve would be the way to go. They are thoughtless imitators (which were produced after GIT, by the way, so they are the copycats), designed to appeal to the masses who just want a quick feel-good fragrance for a quick buck. If you have the money and the interest, then buy the superior GIT, as it is one of the best 'green' and fresh fragrances around, and you really do get your money's worth. Longevity is alright too, with 2 or 3 sprays lasting around 8 hours on my skin.

reasuringly expensive and classy

I'll throw in my 2 cents. I really enjoy this scent. But the reason I do is because I wore Cool Water for 5-6 years in the early 90s and have never had more compliments. I even own a bottle now. There is a different note in GIT that makes the drydown a little less sweet for me but overall I can't say that it changes much at all compared to CW. In fact CW lasts about 2 hours longer than GIT on me and I have tried drydown tests with both. So I will give it a thumbs up because it is a great sscent but I would spend my money for longevity and overall on CW and go get something else...or 2-3 something elses..with the change.

Just call me Billy Bandwagon for liking GIT. Yes, it's green. Yes, it's pleasant. Yes, it shares something in common with Cool Water and yes, the "note pyramids" do not reflect this.

Now, the bonus review.
I got a sample and loved it but pondered as to whether it was worth the money. Well, the girlfriend loved it too and took it upon herself to go out and get me a bottle before I had come to any decision, and she's not as fragrance crazy as I am. It's just that good. Also, I've only had it for a month and I wear it once or twice a week and it's gotten compliments thrown at me a few times already.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

A classic. Long lasting, decent sillage, very versatile. Careful with the trigger, it can get overbearing. In moderation it is a very pleasant scent. Nothing outrageous or outstanding about this Creed, not by modern standards anyway, just a good scent.

It took me 3 weeks to track down a bottle of this stuff so I could sample it, and boy am I glad I did. The notes are all things I really like and they are blended to perfection. One of the beatiful things about Creed fragrance is that they seem to set differently on each person's skin. They smell a bit different on each and every wearer so you should try this for yourself to be 100% sure you like it. The only comment is that on my skin which is extremely dry, the scent doesn't last long enough.

I used to say this smelled a lot like Cool Water, I still say that because many still confuse this for Cool Water when I wear it. However I can detect the smoothness, and richness that is lacking in Cool Water that is found here in Green Irish Tweed. Great silage and longevity and a beautiful scent overall.

I just received a sample of this fragrance in the mail and I must say it is quite enticing. It is almost as if some one bottled Irish Spring soap in a bottle as a fragrance...but yet it is deeper than that.
From the get go I could smell faint similarities between this and MI. Though obviously they both dry down to scents that are totally different. I feel that this is a great fragrance for any time of day and any occasion. I couldn't believe that anyone would find this offensive, but as with any fragrance, body chemistry can ruin any good fragrance that works well on everybody.

It's clean, crisp and I feel and smell shower clean after I put it on.

A scent that will truly cure any problems concerning being attractive to women! They are drawn to this like bees to honey in any situation. To compare GIT to Cool Water is blasphemy in itself despite to similarity in the way the smell at the opening phase. After that, no contest! Long live GIT...

Well, whenever i come across a new scent, i hope it's something which i have never smelled before, something unique; i didnt get tht feel when i sniffed GIT, same thin happened when i sniffed Chanel PM, but then i thought, maybe the scents im referrin to were inspired by these. another aspect which i noticed only recently was that it was released in 1985, now was'nt tht the era of heavyweights and intense perfumes?

GIT is never too loud and is a classy scent with subtle developments. Though the opening is citrus based, this one's tempered with something very musky sweet, almost powdery quality, somethin in the vain of CK be. Some notes in it, never allows the citrus to add its brightness. the base is again a very comforting musky, ambery drydown. also, something about GIT has a "cooling" effect to it, cant really put my finger on it..

This is definitely for someone who is not looking to gather attention, but will still do in a very nice way. nothing in it can possibly offend anyone, i guess it's in its simplicity of design, comfort and wearability that GIT has won over. is it worth the price, well, very subjective... but i find this one very wearable on a daily basis, something i could comfortably wear in front of my CEO, i only wish i could afford it time to time. :)

there are some notes in it which is very common used in deodrants, hence the familiarity. similarity to CW lasts for 5 mins and not anythin beyond that, the Violets have been treated with so much finesse and Subtlety here, unlike CW where its loud and brash. so, for those who are not trying this one out thinking it CW, please reconsider. CW is really nowhere close to GIT.

GIT last over 4 hours on me which is enjoyable, thereafter moderate sillage.

WOW! I purchased this on the reviews alone, and man, I am amazed and glad that I did! It has a very fresh scent, with a slight citrus note. I think one of the reviews said that it smelled like tweed, it does! Mix freshly laundered petticoats with a freshly shaven man who has just come in from the rain, that's Green Irish Tweed. It also has a very classy smell as well.

I continue to smell my arm just because it's one of those smells that not only commands attention, but it's one that I would like to cuddle up with on a warm summer day. This fragrance turns heads, and is a keeper for me.

One of my favourites. Has a bit of a reputation as being passe to perfume collectors in the way that Cool Water is passe to everyone else but it will still be very individual to 99% of people you meet in the 'real world'.
Similarities to Cool Water are more pronounced for the first hour, after that, GIT definitely has a more complex middle and base that warms very nicely.
As close to a fragrance that can be worn any time of day, any time of year as there is.

Beautifully constructed, paramount sillage and longevity, amazing smell. Not much can be said of the way it smells than what has been said. And yes, it is reminiscent of Cool Water at the start. Irrelevant. Smells way better than Cool Water anyway. Not Creed's best, but it's so popular because it is so good.

I actually cannot wear this around my girlfriend. She has been known to attack me when I have it on!!!!!!

Green Irish Tweed is a very fresh, clean, and enjoyable fragrance. GIT is truly worthy of being called a modern classic. It is not hard to see why GIT remains so popular. GIT is very similar to Cool Water, but to my nose GIT is the better of the two products with velvety smooth ingredients that harmonize incredibly well together.

The only two downsides to this fragrance are it's high cost and low to medium longevity. On both cost and longevity Cool Water can claim a minor victory though GIT still out classes it.

I can't believe how delicious this smells on me. I'm a chypre chick all the way yet still because I am a female my body chemistry really responds to the verbena and the iris. And so on me it's like a bouquet of iris and verbena wrapped in bark with 'leaves' of moss trailing from it. As for sillage I'm not really getting it, so on me it lays close to the skin. And not even a trace of bitterness from the lemon.

A very nice scent for Spring and Summer. It's a very clean and sophisticated scent. I just wish it would stay a little longer on my skin for the price... but overall a Very nice scent.

One of my basic business, meet-with-a-client, board-of-trustees fragrances. Near unversal in its appeal, well-made to a fault, and utterly "safe" in almost any setting. Not particularly exciting, but just as comfy and dependable as that old tweed sportcoat in my closet. Becoming a bit overexposed, but still enormously useful. Amazing sillage, though little lasting power. The latter trait doesn't bother me, since I consider this scent strictly daytime and will almost always put on something more exotic at night.

GIT is, I think for many, an "acquired taste," especially to those not familiar with Creed. To mirror Ruggles comments below, the first time I tried GIT I didn't like it. It was the first Creed I ever tried and it did smell very Green with an almost vinegary smell that reminded me a lot of Cool Water. I have since come to know Creed fragrances through Imperial Milesime, SMW and Himalaya and I have now also come to appreciate the accords that run through these products. Now I can proudly say GIT is a wonderful, manly expression of these accords and makes for a great addition to my wardrobe. GIT is so much more than Cool Water, although I certainly understand the similarity. While Cool Water gets stale and fades away, GIT continues to give me hours of wonderful smells ... longetivity is quite good.

Along side Ungaro III, the best perfume ever! Incredibly elegant and sophisticated, this woody fragrance is for the man who understands the importance of a perfect look and attitude. The Creed man is a gentleman... his shirt is always clean and his shoes are always polished.

P.S. I don't smell anything green in this one...

Great scent, although it stays too close to my skin. Longevity and sillage is below average. I don't know if it is just this bottle, but I've kept this one refrigerated and another bottle in my cologne storage. The bottle in the ref lasted longer on my skin and the top notes came out as soon as I sprayed it on. The one thing about this scent, it's worth the money. It drives people crazy not being able to pin point the brand. It tends to last longer on my wife and my teenage son. I am not sure if keeping it in a cool place helps, but it does keep the the scent longer.

It is tempting to invoke comparisons of Green Irish Tweed (GIT) to Davidoff's Cool Water, but seeing as to how the former preceded the latter by three years, it is really a moot issue. Whether it is Creed's GIT or MI; both are house originals that seemed to have been imitated by the likes of other more mass marketed perfumeries.

GIT is a classic scent, a strong scent and a clean scent. Its crisp citrus overtones are fleshed out by the more herbal and floral middle tones into an epitome of summertime delight. The beauty is that the citrus scent is retained by the aromatic and woody finish that leaves the skin smelling like a warm summer glade. Unlike Cool Water, which I found to have a more artificial and synthetic after-smell, GIT completes this masterpiece with a velvety and organic finish that gives the entire scent unrivaled uniqueness.

Colors I would associate with this scent would be Moss Green, Lime Green, Turquoise followed by orange and yellow and finally sustaining an Emerald Green and Teal finish. It certainly puts the "green" in Green Irish Tweed.

What can I say, this is THE Creed that didn't make me feel bad about spending over one hundred dollars for a bottle of perfume.

Some reviewers here compared this to a freshly-mowed grass...well...I don't know...not for me...as a matter of fact, I don't smell anything "green" about GIT (ironic, indeed). Original Vetiver smells more "green" than this one. Not that I'm complaining, though.

Some reviewers also recommend this as a summer fragrance...not for me...the opening citrus notes is already gone within the first half-hour on a warm summer.

Also, the fragrance just doesn't last very long...ESPECIALLY during summer.

All in all, despite the disappointing longevity...if you need to buy one Creed, this is what I recommend.

This is a bit strange, but the visual I got immediately after smelling this at Neiman Marcus was tweed. Yes, tweed. It was as if my nose was experiencing what my eyes and fingers would if I was holding and touching a pice of tweed fabric. That said, awesome fragrance, last for a long time, def worth the money. Do yourself a favor, don't buy it on eBay (99% fakes). I have a feeling the people who thumbed this down but their copy on eBay.

This has GOT to be one of the most magnificent fragrances.

A couple of observations:

Cons:
1. To me, GIT doesn't live up to its name, I get an association to purple, not green at all. It must be the violet and iris.

2. GIT is from 1985, which I didn't know when I purchased a bottle. Strangely, one of my first thoughts when I tried it for the first time was "this is 80's stuff". It's rather generic, and there's a certain coldness to the composition,in an 80's kind of way. I can't pinpoint it further, it's just a feeling.

3. I would love to love this much talked about fragrance, but a chip on my shoulder keeps whispering "This smells cheap", because of the above mentioned reason.

Pros:
1. There are no odd or false notes. The composition and development is logical and flawless.

2. On my skin the sillage and longevity is very good. Lasts most of a day.

3. I get an uplifting feeling from GIT. It's a positive fragrance, albeit in a 80's kind of way.

1 year ago I tried GIT and thought to myself, "another boring green scent." Well, what a difference a year makes! Thanks, in part to Basenotes, and slowly weening my nose off, the largely synthetic, designer frags, I can now appreciate the beauty of all things Creed, Malle, Lutens, etc.
GIT, along with my other favorite Creed Vanisia, speaks of quality, balance and refinement. GIT is evocative of being outside in nature while Cool Water can only only be evocative of being inside of a Sephora.

This isn't my favorite fragrance, but it may be the most elegant one I own. Useful for when I want to make an unmistakably positive impression and still keep my own nose interested. It has been a while since I've worn it, and having just spritzed I'm getting a slightly salty note that I never noticed before. Is that coming from the ambergris? It does smell expensive... Maybe because, like all Creeds I've tried, it lacks that aldehydic thing so common in the mainstream. GIT may be somewhat overplayed these days, but perhaps that's because it's so solid and dependable.

Those who dont like this fragrance must have some problem with their nose :).

I agree…smells like a rich warmer version of Cool Water by Davidoff. However…the magic is in the dry down! Safe buy if you ask me.

If you are obsessed with the highest quality and consider yourself conservative, by all means try it. If you wear Brooks Brothers and go to a club, you must own it. If you have an inkling to widen your olfactory world even just a bit, skip it. There are more interesting Creeds (and other high quality niche houses to explore). Try Imperial, Bois du Portugal, Erolfa, Chevrefeuille Original (my personal favorite Creed underdog plug) or Vintage Tabaróme.

i'm guessing jon_remy is bashing this because he can't afford it since his entire review focuses on the cost as do most negative creed reviews. yes, it is a safe scent and it's not as unique as virgin island water, etc, but cost aside, it is a great scent. come one people, if it costs too much, buy something else than bash otherwise very pleasant scents (though i will admit creed is quite sub-par in longevity... i've gone through an eighth inch of virgin island water in three days.)

Without wishing to be a sheep, I must agree with many that this is the absolute best Creed in my view.

Absolutely brilliant classy fragrance - one that definitely gets people asking questions. When I try to explain to people what sets Creed apart from many mass market frags, I try to explain how clean, fresh and REAL they smell. Nothing shows that off better than GIT in my view. People will say "oh that smells a bit like...." but will always comment on how, well, expensive it smells!

Lasts well on me - damn, I go through this far to quickly. Love wearing this on a night out.

I'm a fresh member of this side and since I saw thi side Creed was just a fragrane brand for me and the other thing I knew that it was an expensive brand, but after seeing here that it was chosen as a best or one of the best fragrances a few times, then I got ver curious. There isjust one small shop where I live in Netherlands sells that brans, so I went there to give it a try. I tried GID and some others. I have th same idea like the other members: t smells like Cool Water. Actually I hould say that Cool Water smells like GIT because GIT is formulated before CW. But if you have a good nose and expeience than you can smeel that GIT is not as simple as CW. It is complexer than CW. Most of my friends and colleagues thought that it was CW.

So this one has been reviewed to "death" as well, so I will keep this short...decent scent. The first decent scent from Creed that I have smelled comparing to SWM and Himalaya. However, I don't know why it is considered to be for men and women as it is more masculine than a unviversal fragrance and I do not get the comparison with "Cool Water" at all.

Arrived today. I bought it without being able to sample it and as I read
the reviews visions of the awful Cool Water corriander and sage notes clanging on my co-workers' nostrils gave me a couple of sleepless hours.
Honestly, some people are quite good at writing scathing opinions and others
at what looks like a review , but is really just a chance to say "boardroom"
as if they golf there daily.

This is blended so perfectly and with such quality ingredients that you can count the ingredients with you nose as if it were a checklist. As clear as music and the genius of design as apparent. All one need do is look at the ingredient list and decide if such
things appeal to them. There are no harsh, moldy notes like old grass or
the funny smell of mixed cooking spices
one finds in Cool Water. I just love the stuff.

Excellent stuff. Classy indeed. I always keep a bottle on hand, as it works well in most social situations and most climates, including the warmer ones. It seems to vary a bit from "vintage" to "vintage" in terms of concentration and/or the ratio of components as I've had bottles that seemed to have different "emphases" in the composition, and some that had great staying power while others faded rather quickly. It must be the "Tweed" in the name and the Cary Grant connection, but it has a sort of sartorial aura about it that I reflexively associate with those cool old black-and-white movies from the late 50's and early 60's. Thumbs up.

Firstly, GIT is an amazing frag. Addictive, alluring and refreshing. The opening is fantastic - reminds me of Sherbet Lemon's - a delicately balanced mixture of intense lemon and green undertones. This opening is so good that it smells edible to me. I just want to lick myself when I spray on GIT, it really is that intense.
After the opening comes an incredible green drydown which is good but never really matches the opening for me as the lemon (my fave note) seems to ebb away.

Comparisions to cool water are justified but GIT is just in a completely different class. Cool water is very short lived in comparison to GIT. I own both and I do like cool water but it is a long way off the high std set by GIT.

One thing I think some creeds get unfairly punished for is poor longevity - the problem is that the initial strength is so great that the drydown can seem weak but when I compared creed longevity to run of the mill frags the creed fruity / green / marine drydowns lasted lomger then their rivals and were only bested by silage monsters like Gucci Pour Homme which lasts forever on me.

I bought a bottle of Green Irish Tweed a month ago. I was fully expecting it to smell like Cool Water, but I bought it anyway--My reasoning being that Original Vetiver smelled identical to Mugler's Cologne at first, but after a while I could detect a world of difference.

Well... When I got my bottle of GIT, sure enough it smelled like Cool Water. I was slightly saddened because I liked the way GIT smelled, but I was certain that anyone who smelled it would identify me as a guy who wears Cool Water.

But you know what? I can't stop wearing this stuff regardless! At first it seemed kind of mediocre, but the quality is first rate and the multifaceted drydown is addicting. I almost don't care if people think it IS Cool Water, because it just smells incredible.

Just last night I stopped in a Sephora and did a quick spritz of Cool Water on a paper strip--I should have put it on skin... But yep, it was similar in smell to GIT. But while they smell similar, Green Irish Tweed has much more complexity and allure about it.

To enjoy it, you really have to divorce yourself from thoughts of Cool Water, and just enjoy it for the masterpiece that it is. And if you must recall Cool Water, remember, Green Irish Tweed was created first and Cool Water was the plagiarist.

Green Irish Tweed doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. It already invented it in the first place...

This is a standard that should be on any refined gentleman's fragrance shelf. Just strong enough to announce your presence, but not overbearing or overwhelming. The ladies I know (including the most important one in my life) tell me this one makes thier knees buckle. The great thing about it is, that while women swoon - it is still classy enough to be worn to the office. The sandlewood and floral notes in this combine to project an image of refined power. One that doesn't have to be brash or braggy - just confident. I love this scent.

I like it, but it is not one of my favourites. There is the coolwater-alike thing in the top notes, though it does take a different turn from the heart onwards (the topnotes remain detectable for quite some time though).

I also find the creed house drydown a little sickly and overbearing at times. I really prefer the older creeds.

That said, this is a fantastically crafted scent with fabulous notes and development and logevity and sillage and I can see why so many love it.

I love Creed. I like Green Irish Tweed, but don't love it, because I don't love floral/citrus combinations. But, this is extremely well made. It lasts forever, goes with any occasion, and is generally very pleasant (but conventional).

With regard to the comparisons to Cool Water, Cool Water does indeed smell very similar to GIT - almost identical to my nose. But, there is a huge difference in longevity. Cool Water disappears in about an hour whereas GIT lasts 24 hours.

I like it a lot,but i don't want to smell like everybody,it's creed's best seller since many years. some similaraties with coolwater and polosport.GIT's drydown is wonderfull.

This blows Curve and Cool Water away. The quality is just so much better and the green opening and superb drydown make this one of the most versatile frags out there. The sillage and longevity are very good and almost as good as BDP. If green is your thing then try this one.

This is a strong empowering frag. A pleasure everytime I wear it due to the compliments from the ladies. It's a must have in every frag collection.

What is to say that has not been said already. To me this is a very verastile fragnance. I could wear this anytime, anywhere, and in any type of weather. When I don't know what to wear for the day, I know GIT has got my back. The top notes give off a very green and earthy feeling which makes me feel clean, fresh, and one with nature. When the top notes leave I get an amazing sweet but earthy smell that takes my breath away. I would suggest Green Irish Tweed to just about anyone becuase it is so versatile. A must have in any collection.

I can definitely understand why people compare this fragrance to Cool Water, but GIT is so much more than that. It only vaguely resembles Cool Water for the first few minutes. The drydown is much subtler to the point that it almost smells like a different fragrance altogether. I bought this for my fiance, who does not normally wear cologne, and he fell in love with it immediately. It's a cool, classy, sophisticated fragrance.

I'm not sure why people are criticizing the sillage; it lasts for hours.

Overall, I'd say this is a fragrance for the man who doesn't need or want to impress anyone. It's perfect for daily wear or a dressy-casual evening adventure. It must be worn to be appreciated.

This is the gold standard of green scents. Simultaneously extroverted, refined and complex. Light-hearted, but beautiful. If it were a musical instrument, it would be a trumpet. Like most Creed scents I’ve experienced, I would describe it as smelling bright and clear. There’s nothing dark or muddy in it. It is a romantic scent. And a sexy scent. While all scents smell differently on, and to different people, women mostly seem to like it. And most seem to like it a lot!

When I first sampled GIT, I smelled mainly cut grass, and didn’t think I liked the scent. But as the top notes wore down and the accord focussed more on the floral heart notes and powdery musk basenotes, my perception changed. Repeated wearings showed layers of richness and complexity, which had first escaped me. The top notes aren’t grass, but citrus. I neither know, nor will attempt to name them all. But the first impression is of grass because the citrus is in accord with the iris and whatever other floral bits makeup the heartnotes. There are similarities to Creed’s OV. But the both the citrus and florals are brighter and bolder in GIT. And there is ultimately no vetiver to undercut their higher register.

Perhaps four hours after application, the citrus topnotes are largely gone. The basenotes are rising to combine with the remaining florals into a rich, creamy, powdery accord that I suspect many have described as the Creed house note. I love it! It works on me, and for me. Sillage is prodigious, and longevity is excellent for me too. Faint suggestions even linger the next day after a shower.

Despite it’s excellent sillage, this scent has seemed to offend no one, and delight many. I would have to describe it as an elegant casual scent. Or perhaps one that is casually elegant. And if it works for you, I believe it’s not out of place in almost any setting.

Yet another positive Green Irish Tweed review... what is the world coming to?

I tried Green Irish Tweed a few years ago, while picking up whatever run-of-the-mill cologne was popular in my high school at the time. I knew nothing of Creed, or colognes in general, and was curious about the name alone. I shelled out the $200-250+ CDN for it on the spot.

Overrated? Absolutely... "Greatest", "Extremely Classy", "Sublime", "Heavenly", "Unique", "Legendary", etc. This one's suffered all manner of exaltation. It should be pointed out however, that a lot of this praise does stem from inheirently good qualities of the fragrance. The initial notes are somewhat pleasant, but not all too spectacular. Citrusy, fresh, nothing overwhelmingly unique. It is a must to allow this one to follow it's course though, as the drydown is where this one shines. It's very safe and inoffensive. Such characteristics are undesirable to some, but as a (personal) general rule, the fragrance should not be far more complex than the wearer. (heh)

As for the debate on similar fragrances, I wont contribute much. I've owned Cool Water, tried Curve and what have you, but I will still make sure I have a bottle of Tweed. They are similar, but not so to the point that discerning people will be unable to differentiate them.

Personally, I've never had the pleasure of having the mysterious "arse" note creep up on me, nor have I had any issues with longevity or sillage. I never use more than one spray. It dries down relatively quick, but will remain strong right till next morning. This millésime is my mainstay.

The similarity to Cool Water, often stressed upon, is more a roumour than a certainty, a prejudice without much real basis. While the first impression is almost identical to Cool Water, the two bearing the same, antiseptic, minty, medicine note, Green Irish Tweed developes into something much more elaborate and less vile than the mundane, synthetic and unimpressive Cool Water. The middle notes and the finishing touch of Irish Tweed are developing into something herbal, mossy, woody, reaching depths and subtleties Cool Water is not capable to achieve.
The lasting power on my skin is above average, better than many other high-class scent, yet without being offensive- tough it lingers for a long time, it's never due to offensive and heavy notes, a very discreet, very light, but persistent touch of slightly ozonic, slightly marine, slightly chypre notes.
An overtly aristocratic scent, not only due to the price, rather the entire mood encapsulated in this scent is one of the few recreating the feeling of classic British opulence, of country club lifestyle- as the name partly suggests; therefore the scent that a true aristocrat or even a member of the Royal Family would wear.

Mmmm...GIT. Summer in a $100 black bottle. Fall too. Oh, and winter and spring.

It's simply a nice everyday summer frag thats all. Easy to wear and very accessible.

The one, the only...my holy grail. I wore it once in work and I had 8 compliments in one day! my most ever. Including my managers.

It may not live quite up to the hype on this site but it is pretty close. if you only want to purchase on 'niche' this is a must have. In fact it is a must for all people even half serious about their frags. I will always have this in my wardrobe

I've always had mixed feelings about GIT. When I first tried it I wasn,t sure whether I really liked it, or not.
On further experimentation, it has become a very comfortable versatile addition to my wardrobe.
It's the drydown the clinched it for me.

I want to revise my opinion. One day after I tested GIT for the first time I sensed a *really cool* scent coming from my wardrobe which turned out to be the GIT test paper in my pant's pocket. I realized that the previous day I had smelled so many scents in the shops and then the GIT and also smelling it too much directly from my arm while it was too sharp that it made my opinion a little bit subjective.

I bought a GIT :) What is the moral of the story?

An elegant and beautiful fragrance that strikes me as more for the sophisticted lady as opposed to a male fragrance which could explain why so many women love it.

This scent is very nice! Understated and manly in a modern way. Got a sample for my husband, it was a good fragrance on him however, there was no staying power...his body seemed to 'soak it up' he had to keep re-applying. Would put us in the poor house to try and keep him smelling like GIT!!! If you are one for a VERY subtle scent or new to the world of men's fragrance this could be just right for you!

A luscious and genius fragrance from the Creed house. I have received numerous enthusiastic compliments in the short time I have worn GIT. Truly, GIT is my current favorite. It is a powerful, masterfully fresh and sensual scent -- but not obnoxious or that you have to worry about offending anyone if you put on too much, IMHO. Two huge thumbs up!!!

Great scent! it has this green aspect that is quite different. Very classy. Can't stop smelling it, it is a delicious scent if you like the "green".

Green Irish Tweed is a beautiful fragrance for men. The scent is haunting, clean, and fresh, lasting longer than other Creeds I've tried. The halls of my college dorm are filled with the smells of Curve and Cool Water, and I can attest that GIT rests leagues apart from both. The drydown to ambergris is beautiful as well. Perhaps the best part of wearing GIT is the name of the scent itself. When people are amazed and ask me what I'm wearing (and this happens often), it's fun to say "Green Irish Tweed", and watch the confused/impressed expressions on their faces. Perhaps they were expecting me to say something like "Cool Water." Bottom line: Worth the money, and Creed is quality. It's easy to see why celebrities and royalty favor this scent.

Two thumbs way up. I received this from ebay as a decant and didn't get to use much of it. But this stuff is top notch for sure. I will certainly own a full bottle of this one day.

Sample arrived today. Man, this is classy. I won't wax eloquent with the descriptions of scent color, etc. This ones on my 'to buy' list. About the only shortcoming is that it fades after about 6 hours on me, still noticeable though.

Thumbs up. This is an absolute quality fragrance. It starts off with a woody/citrus blast that is masculine yet clean. Then as it drys down it turns into a very nice calm smooth green notes that's just sweet enough without becoming feminine. I love this stuff and can't wait to get a whole bottle. Thumbs up...way up.

Majestic!!! Dark and mysterious, fresh, like a forest by the Alps on a summer night illuminated by a full moon with a cool breeze carrying the scent of distant flowers..., full of energy, its calm surface hiding a wild undertow revealed subtlely with time in layers of unfolding complexity....

This masterpiece is not to be compared with chemists concoctions poured out of drums and purveyed by 24 hour pharmacies, as some of the other reviews keep repeating. A great addition to the collection for those who appreciate luxury for the sake of quality alone, and philanthropically underpriced.
